Abstract
This paper highlights the Queensland State Archives' (QSA) Digital Archive Initiative, which began in 2017 with a shift to a cloud-based, as-a-service model for digital preservation. Key milestones include the deployment of a new Archival Management System and the launch of a digital archive, leveraging Archivematica and AWS for secure storage. As QSA advances in digital transfers, challenges like metadata gaps and complex file structures arise. The paper advocates for a system migration approach to streamline digital transfers, improve cross-disciplinary collaboration, and enhance efficiency and accountability. Ultimately, QSA’s journey focuses on overcoming challenges to safeguard Queensland’s digital heritage for future generations.Details
