From Personal Archives to Public Memory: Archiving Documents from Citizens and Communities : Short Paper - iPRES 2025 - Wellington, New Zealand / Te Whanganui-a-Tara, Aotearoa
Abstract
Preserving non-official documents is a challenge for archives. Citizens and communities lack the resources to build long-term archives, but their digital data, such as photos and emails, will play a key role in historical research. The development of an educational program and the Citizen Archive Platform helps individuals to preserve and share their digital documents with archives. The platform allows users to submit data for future archival use. The paper will explore strategies for preserving a city’s diverse history.Details
